Been awhile since we caught a movie,
'the fiance' & i of course,
So,
since we were both OFF last Tuesday,
we gamely decided to battle the weekday crowd of
'i have no idea how they hv so much $' students
& other shift workers like us who have weekdays off !
Actually,
'Bourne Supremacy' was the initial choice...
But,
it opened only today so we settled our sights on an
'ahem'
lup lup show...
*LOL*

Anyways,
I was rather sceptical as reviews indicated a slowmo-emo momo flick
Still,
we decided to ignore em' cut-throat reviewers & instead bought 2 tix...
And...
Was i BOWLED over !
The story started off pretty slowly...
It centres around MALE lead,
the super CUTE Ryan Gosling
who looks sweetly mature with the goatee & all...*drools*
* a bite of gossip : Ryan juz broke off with Sandra Bullock,
yes the same gal frm Speed *
and GORGEOUS FEMALE lead
Rachel McAdams ,
whom you might recognise as the gal in 'Hot Chick' starring opp. Rob Schneider...
She's all brunette in this show...
but still those bambino eyes,
*sigh*
I was slowly enchanted by the story...
How Ryan's character @ Noah Calhoun
a lowly-waged lumber mill worker woos
Rachel McAdams's Allie Hamilton rich gal personified...
In the heat of their summer romance...
They fought & bickered
but yet that elusive combustible spark ...
They were inseparable...
That first love...
But,
like all GOOD romance films,
the path of TRUE love never did run smoothly...
One nite,
after almost making love
They had a HUGE fight,
and rashly broke up !
Allie's sobbing & begging
plus Ryan's stoic decision to end it
cuz of their DIFFERENT backgrounds
juz tugged the heartstrings...
&
the wicked witch @ Allie's mum decided enuf was enuf...
She didn't want her kid to end up marryin a poor boy,
so she yanked poor Allie home the next day...
And poor Allie,
didn't get a chance to say goodbye to Noah...
& Noah,
DEVASTATED,
wrote to Allie...
He wrote 1 letter a day for 365 days...
& evryday
he waited for Allie's letter but nuthin came... ;(
3 yrs later...
By chance,
Noah saw Allie kissin another man
oOooOooOo...
Mr James Marsden @ X-Men's Cyclops
who turned out to be Allie's fiance...
Sumthin snapped in Noah...
He became a recluse,
incapable of love...
But,
Fate stepped in
& dealt Noah a sweet card...
Allie saw his pic one day in the papers while tryin out her WEDDING GOWN
& promptly fainted...
* how ironic *
So,
Deciding to tie up a few strings,
Or more like her unresolved feelings
Allie went back to see Noah...
&
saw him she did ...
Gosh u wunt blieve this !
It was so achingly SAD...
So close yet so far away for Noah,
To see his first love standing right in front of him,
after 7 long YEARS ...
* can u imagine dat ? *
He brought her canoeing & it started raining...
Allie, with all her pent up emotions...
shouts @ Noah..
" Why didn't you write me? I waited 7 goddamn years for you !!! "
& Noah
with a surprised look answered...
" I wrote you Al...everyday for 365 days "
Lo & behold...
Allie's mum @ the wicked witch had kept all of Noah's letters ...
All 365 of em'...
Suffice to say,
the reunion was heartbreaking...
But now,
Allie had to make a choice...
The poor lumber boy made good
or
her fiance, the wealthy heir to a cotton empire...
I was biting my nails,
ask 'the fiance'...
Gosh
if it was me,
I wudn't noe who i'd choose...
She chose...
HIM !!!
Noah...
The first LOVE won out...
The first boy she gave her heart to & never did quite get it back...
Alas,
Allie developed dementia in her old age
& cudn't recognise her own husband !
Noah, now a 70-80++ year ole man chose to be with his wife
instead of comfortably in his own home..
When their children asked him to come back home,
He simply said...
" That is MY SWEETHEART in there...I'm not gonna leave her alone !
She needs me & i'm gona take watever time i have with her
even if it's juz for 5 mins ! SHE is my HOME ! "
Oh !
By the time i saw em' dancin in the nursing home,
tears were gushing down my cheeks...
Which is a HUGE thing i tell u,
Cuz i DUN cry dat easily eh !
Good ole fashioned loving,
Love so simple & pure...
&
How it stands the test of time...
Juz sOo gushingly SWEET !
It was good for me to watch the show,
Made me believe in everlasting love...
We tend to get caught up with the negatives
or
take tingz for granted
That sumtimes we forget the person beside us...
It's time to be thankful
for me at least,
For my beautiful baby...
For being the love of my life,
For being the gentlest & sweetest...
Who discusses Eisenhower & footy politics with me...
But yet can NEVER decide what to eat eh ;p
Oh no!
Tis has turned into another awu awu entry for me !

exhausted from a night out @ Coco Latte
which has the loveliest decor EVER,
( tink pastels & butterfly motifs for the ladies' loo )
'The baker' was oh sOo tempted to juz buy a cake off some deli,
you know 'play cheat' ...
*LOL*
Then,
remembering the scout's honour promise she made...
'Ms Baker' persevered,
all covered in butter, sugar & flour...
She presents
the 'piece de resistance' @ dessert,
* BANANA CARAMEL PIE *

Juz the name...
is sendin YUMMYLICIOUS tingles down my spine now...
I am remembering the bananas, whipped cream & oOo so sinful caramel !

It's was an anxiety-filled experiment !
Mind you,
that was the 1st time i was bakin it...
So, my poor gals & Mr Dan,
were the unfortunate test subjects...
Thank god it turned out pretty ok !
*phew*
Luckily no tummyaches eh !
But instead the pie dish was sOo 'licin' eh, eh ;p
kekekekekekekeke...
But we had FUN ,
A potluck party extravaganza...
Everyone was famished, i tell u !
