oprah!
1:35:00 AM
Twas watching Oprah on the telly today & i've always liked her that Oprah! She's something, i mean to come up from rags to riches is no easy feat ey. There's just this spark about her that usually compels me to sit down for an hour and listen up.

Today's episode was about her own magazine O's home decorator editor, a Nate Berkus who was tasked to refurbish a home. Nothing out of the norm right? But what drove this jovial man to tears? In typical Oprah style, she got Nate to decorate a home of a recently widowed woman who found her living room to be too stifling especially after memories of her late husband deteriorating on the couch, suffering from effects of late stage cancer. As this poor woman brought Nate all over her living room, i found myself saddened by her loss... She still kept memorabillia of their past even right down to the piece of newspaper her late husband read on the first day of their honeymoon.

Opening a chest, this woman took out a feather. A single pristine, white feather. Couple of days after her husband died, a feather just flew out of nowhere and landed right at this woman's feet. She told Nate " I'd like to think XXX(hubby's name)was looking after me and Carly (baby daughter) and that's why i've kept this feather."Isn't that heart wrenching? So Nate did what he does best. And guess what? This part touched me the most. He had a HUGE frame in the middle of the room and in that frame contained ...that single white feather. The woman broke down. Isn't that just amazing? You could see, though the woman was amazed with the transformation of her living room, that single white feather touched her the most. The one thing she could look at and be reminded of all her happy times with her late husband.

Then Oprah had to ask this question. Which of course struck me immensely.

" Do you know what your feather is? "

I'm sure you guys get what i mean by that. I'll leave you with Nate's feather.

You see the picture of that Joshua tree made famous by U2? It was given to Nate by his late partner who recently perished in the tsunami disaster. That was Nate's feather. His most prized possesion.

Do you happen know what's yours?

plain lazy!

It's a Sunday & this author is at work. Bollocks! But the redeeming factor would be someone's coming home today. Yay! About time i'd say ;p

Twas hopping around when a website was stumbled upon. Boy, were the contents explosive. That's putting it rather mildly you know. The author of the webbie is a dog lover who apparently was incensed by a letter to ST's Forum Page about witnessing a dog owner letting his dog get into a cab without it being in a carrier/crate of sorts. It was an innocent letter voicing concerns about hygiene but somehow it ended up being this HUGE fiasco of Malays/Muslims being accused of being overtly sensitive to slights and how 'underpriviledged' we are. GOodness, if you guys have read it, it's almost embarassing how STUPID this whole enchilada has escalated to.

I'm stil contemplating whether i should put the link up because as horrendous as the post written the irate author of the webbie was, the comments/remarks/retorts in response were equally appalling. I mean come on, it's obvious this small minded fella is just out to seek attention what with the newfound interest in blogging *think sarong party girl*
and i'd say he's been successful so far! He's probably laughing his head off reading all those comments made by 'so called Muslims' who seem outraged but then proceeded to degrade Islam further by spouting vulgarities beyond your imagination.

I'm all for advocating your rights especially when it comes to something as ultra sensitive as religion. But to do so with such anger and perversion, that's about the only word i can come up with for all those vulgarities. It's demeaning to Muslims as a whole. I DEFINITELY don't profess to being the epitome of a good Muslim person but i do have my limits. Islam is all about tolerance, patience and goodwill. It's sad the term 'jihad' has been abused for all these self righteous bastards who have no qualms killing poor, innocent children. That IS NOT the way we go about spreading the goodness of our religion. Its beauty. *sighs*. We used to be a religion of holy men, brilliant scientists, scholars, elegant poets, revolutionary men who made Islam significant.

We can certainly help how others perceive our religion. We claim bigotry yet our behaviour suggest others are right. I have many Chinese, Indian, orange, blue, green friends who don't have such a skewed view of Islam but if you're fed with daily news of suicide bombers killing innocent bystanders, you'd get a little frustrated. Damn, i get frustrated as well because Islam doesn't condone innocent killing even if your targets are Jewish, Christians, Zulus or like i mentioned above blue, green or orange!

Well, what the heck do i know right? It's just sad, real sad. I do believe diplomacy, tact, patience and intellect win battles not useless cussing and vehement rantings. Age's catching up baby, i can feel it!

Okay, back to the real world. My world. Thank you girls for a MOST wonderful time last night. You made feel at home and not even the least bit left out even though aku sorang aje la yg 'single' semalam kan? Heh. We'll galllivant around again but this time everyone on bikes hor, pakai kereta tak aci ok? Kekeke ;p But thanks again.
Twas great!
