How has my life changed now that the status has offically been changed to 'married'? So many have posed that quintessential question every newlywed has to answer and yet, i find myself scrambling to find an honest answer. How *has* my life changed?
Actually i don't have an answer to that. Everything yet nothing has changed. Does that make sense? It doesn't to the naked eye. You'll have to go through it to know what it's like. My life's changed in so many ways such as laundry for two, breakfast for him before work or getting used to this other person sleeping beside you almost every night. Yet ...life's unchanged as i still have my nights out, painting the town red and alone time.
Essentially being married does not equate to me changing to the point of non-recognition. No, not at all. Naz has always given me the freedom to be my own person and i would NEVER have married him otherwise. Bet you guys agree right? Marriage is so different now as compared to the heydays. Now, it's all about equal partnership. It's a democracy not a dictatorship. That simple.
I'm especially pissed when people give marriage such a bad rep. I find it offensive when they ridicule marriage. I've read and even heard of some who pretend to abhor marriage quoting 'imagined' trust issues yet somewhere deep down, they secretly long for that diamond ring or the proposal their partners have yet to come up with. Peer pressure. Yeah, probably it's a lot about looking cool and making a stance to the world saying you're too hip for marriage. It's sad because marriage is a sanctity. It's a haven. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with wanting to be married. It doesn't make you look weaker or more in vogue with today's society. It just makes you human.
Before anyone gets the wrong idea, it is not my intention to sound superior or what have yous just because i happen to have a marriage certificate. That piece of paper hasn't changed me in any way except i can't make passes at all those cute young boys anymore. LOL. But seriously,if you choose to be happily single i'd say go for it, whatever makes you happy because it is your life. Singles, married, cohabiting...Whatever rocks your world, it's cool. Just don't sneer at the married ones. With the exception of those few bad apples claiming superiority for managing to get their butts off the shelves, the rest of us are pretty all right or at least that's how i see it.
So, it's been cool being married to you Bambino. Truly. Even with the incessant grinding and snoring. You have proven my doubts about marriage to be untrue.
Pray for us as we embark on this eventful journey we call our marriage.
Insya'allah.
P.S.>> Thank you girls for the MOST wonderful time. You know who you are. Sheesha never tasted as good.LOL. Can't bloody wait for the next one.
*heart* you guys.
